I've always loved music ever since I was a kid, so growing up I naturally wanted to do something involving music of some sort. I got interested in Djing since I loved dance music; disco, freestyle, house and techno. I bought all my own equipment and use to practice in my room all the time, then my sister and I started to Dj a lot of parties and weddings etc. I got my break by eventually becoming friends with Vinnie Peruzzi as he used to work at the old International Pub in Revere. He let me fill in for him and then had me do some of his other gigs too.
Vinnie worked in radio and I started to help him out at Kiss 108 and then becoming his intern, producer at WZOU, Eagle 93.7 and eventually Star 93.7, playing all the dance music and of course his specialty club classics. At Star 93.7 I started to do dance mixes for the Friday night Star Traxx show, (all of which will be PodCast here) and also for Lady’s D’s show called “The Classic Fix at Six, which featured club classics in the mix. I was then given the opportunity to host the Star 93.7 Sound Factory on Saturday nights where we would have a 6 hour dance show featuring live mixes by some of Boston’s best DJ’s.
The clubs I have spun in includ Stars on Route 1 in Peabody, Campus in Cambridge, and I can’t forget the Palace in Saugus.Of course I have to mention one of the most popular nightclubs in Boston, The Rack. The Rack wanted to try a live broadcast from the club, where Vinnie would be the host and I would Dj in the club. So we started a trial run that was suppose to last for 7 weeks, but turned into 5 years, eventually becoming the hottest spot in Boston. Saturday nights at the Rack was the place to be. The Rack became my second home where I worked Wednesday through Saturday over a 7 year period until its recent closing on New Years Eve 2007. |
